3 days: Fes - Merzouga - Marrakech

3 days

Embark on an adventure through Morocco, from Fes to Marrakech, passing through the picturesque Middle Atlas mountains, the impressive dunes of Merzouga, and traditional Berber villages.

Program:

  • Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

Depart from Fes in the morning, heading southeast towards Errachidia via Ifrane, the former capital of a Jewish kingdom.

Continue the journey towards Merzouga, passing through Midelt and the Ziz Valley. Stop in the famous cedar forest of the Middle Atlas, where you can spot monkeys.

Proceed along the lush oases of the Ziz Valley, with stops to admire the panoramic views. Traverse Berber villages to reach Erfoud, then Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty.

After a short break in Merzouga, set off on a camel trek into the sand dunes to witness a magnificent sunset.

Spend the night in a well-equipped Berber camp, with drum music, in the heart of the golden desert.

  • Day 2: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise, where the dunes change color with the play of shadows.

After breakfast, take a short camel ride, then depart for Tinghir and the Todra Gorges for lunch.

The route passes through Tinejdad and the Todra Valley, offering numerous opportunities for walks along the river, in the gardens, or on the road on the other side of the gorge.

Continue towards the Dades Valley and the Dades Gorges, spending the night in a hotel.

  • Day 3: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, depart through the villages of this charming region, passing by fields cultivated by Berber women, with the High Atlas peaks as a backdrop.

Head towards Ouarzazate along the Rose Valley, famous for its Rose Festival in May, and passing by the kasbahs of the Skoura oasis.

Arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Morocco, to visit the cinema museum. Then visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the setting for many Hollywood blockbusters, the most famous kasbah in Morocco. Cross the highest pass in Africa, the Tizi n'Tichka.

Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
